Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say. Remember, the question is optional!!
Alex's awesome co-hosts are Jennifer Lane, Jenni Enzor, Renee Scattergood, Rebecca Douglass, Lynn Bradshaw, and Melissa Maygrove!
November 5 question - When you began writing, what did you imagine your life as a writer would be like? Were you right, or has this experience presented you with some surprises along the way?
Let me remember...(touches finger to lips) hmmm...I never thought I'd actually finish writing a book. (Me? Write a book? LOL) I think my kids chuckled seeing my persistence. When it came into existence, I hadn't expected the ceaseless editing process. In my heart, I felt it would be published.
As a newbie writer I had A LOT to learn...A LOT!! For those starting out, unless your debut is Fourth Wing, it's not glamorous in the least.
Words to write by:
PERVERANCE
PERSIST
DON'T GIVE UP HOPE
We all have a lot to learn in the beginning, and it never really stops!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm learning something new every day!
DeleteI never thought I'd write a book either!
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, here we are :D
DeleteAnonymously Esther O'Neill, with no signal still Why not ? Opposition to a Mast that would work, because of the ' visual impact'.
ReplyDeleteSuggested solution ? ( mine) Make it like that mast in Paris, nearly 1,000 ft. People cross the world to see it,
Kids ? In my family, it was the grown ups who knew I could never be a writer ! Not exactly hoping, still can't give up,
Keep writing...
YES. Anytime someone tells me they've written their first book, I smile and nod, knowing now the real learning begins.
ReplyDeleteSo True!
DeleteWhat? No glamor? LOL. Yep, it's just lots of typing, editing, more typing and then all the marketing. But we keep doing it anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL on the Fourth Wing remark.
ReplyDeleteYes. There is a LOT to learn. There's a learning curve to writing fiction just like every other new skill.
Yup, I spent many years doing it wrong before I figured out how to do it right.
