#IWSG INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP

Alex J. Cavanaugh's awesome co-hosts for the December 3 posting of the IWSG are Heather Gardner, T. Drecker from Kidbits, Eva E. Solar at Lilicasplace, and Patsy Collins!

I have to admit, I've been too busy with the snow, wind, and rain, I haven't had time to get neurotic over my writing this month.

My problem like many author's is book sales and the dreaded promotional aspects of publishing. I did have a 99 cent deal for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I think I sold A Book or Two!

If you're a writer with thoughts of that first book being published, don't be discouraged by my post. It's a true joy to see your name and book listed on Amazon and other book selling sights for the first time!!

This is the last post with #IWSG for the year of 2014!!!  Hope y'all have a Very Merry Christmas!

Coming Soon!!!

  3. The last time I set up an Amazon promotion, it didn't actually happen! I had to back-track all my tweets and Facebook comments :-(

Here's to many sales in 2015... I can't believe I'm typing that year - the year Marty McFly travels to the future!!

  4. I love your pics - I'm crazy about Christmas decorations! I hope we both did well with our Black Friday sales. I'm glad you're not insecure this week, though it's unfortunate it's because of the wild blizzard of 2014. That one won't soon be forgotten, huh?

  7. Congrats on the book! That's great news. But please don't wish me a happy new year yet; I'm still dealing with Thanksgiving clean up. :-)

  8. Can I just say your words are nice here, but those images totally took me over - cheered me up. Thank you so much for that!

  10. Glad to hear that you are not neurotic this month, but I suffered a bit of it two days back :( Hope next year I will have no anxieties or worries (if that is possible in life).

  11. The secret is pairing ads to run with your sales. (The Kindle Book Review, The Fussy Librarian, etc.) Good luck!

    1. So true. I did that once and my books hit under the 100 mark. So awesome.

  12. Love the holiday photos! It's so hard to believe it's already December. I'm sorry to hear about the low sales and the storms. Hopefully, next year will be so much better!

  13. Hi Cathrina! Love the festive holiday pictures. I love Christmas but can't believe it's already December. Glad you were too busy to be feeling neurotic!! :) Sorry your book sales weren't what you were hoping they would be this year. Here's to next years sales being amazing. Thanks for participating. 15. A book or two can always lead to a new super fan, and that's what we really want. I find that you need to do advertising nowadays to help with the sale. Of course, some of those places can be pretty expensive.

Here's to the upcoming new year!

    1. Yes, I recently paid for advertising. And it is expensive!

  16. Yay to selling some books! It's always nice to have someone willing to spend their money on our creations as writers :) The more readers, even just a few at a time, the better chance for word-of-mouth to spread like wildfire!

  17. Sorry you didn't sell too many books, but it's better than none, right? Hopefully those people will help spread the word.

  18. Me too, marketing, yuck. A necessary evil in my opinion! But I'm working on it and hoping to have news to share next year when my novel comes out... Thanks for sharing, and, a few is better than none in sales, right?! Keep going!

  19. It truly is a joy to publish, but sales fluctuate and take time/effort to achieve. I know I often feel the same way. Here to a year of good sales for 2015!

  20. " I haven't had time to get neurotic over my writing this month." LOL! That's a major accomplishment! Maybe if I'm too busy I won't be insecure... hm...

  21. I get neurotic at least twice a month about my lack of marketing efforts. This is how I feel about marketing : "meh". :-)

    One day I'll get it.

Just keep writing! Have a Happy New Year!

  22. Thanks for the encouragement! I wait for the day when I'll see my own book become a reality. Have a great Holiday season!

  23. If you can hit the big ones, like BookBub, then you'll see a major increase. The good ones cost money unfortunately.

  24. I love your pretty pictures, Cathrina.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
And remember, there's always next year... you can start afresh and work towards more book sales.
It must be exciting to hold your book in your hands...can't wait for my turn...

  25. Got my copy and posted my review. It's a good one! Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year too!

  26. Promotion is by far the toughest part of being a writer for many. I usually just close my eyes and jump in, not expecting too much so as not to be disappointed!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not very good at promotion, so I totally relate to your post! :)
