Months ago I read somewhere about the Blog or Blogging is dying, and the new and upcoming "thing" is the Newsletter. When I read this I was disappointed because my blog just turned a year old. I never was a trendsetter and I happen to like meeting new people through blogging. A newsletter is fine and dandy, yet, it seems so...impersonal.
What's your opinion?

  1. Thanks for mentioning my blogfest and the IWSG! We're happy to have Angela visiting this week.
There's no interaction with a newsletter. That doesn't sound as much fun as blogging.
Don't worry - I don't think it's dying. Just changing. And new bloggers keep appearing, so that will keep it going.

  2. I heard Newsletters are the biggest thing, because it gets you into the reader's email box, instead of them visiting you. Takes less effort on their part to get information about what's going on with you. I haven't quite gotten organized enough to hop on that wagon yet myself though...

Grats on turning a year old!

  4. Newsletters? Really? That's news to me. I rarely subscribe to newsletters, honestly. Blogs are a lot more fun!

  5. I don't think blogging is dying, but I have seen several writers scaling back lately. My blog is aimed at other writers. My website and (rare, only for important events and news) newsletter is for readers. I also switched to a once-a-month promo post.

Christine Raines blogged about this, too. You might enjoy visiting her post.

  6. I ignore most newsletters. My inbox is a busy place. I'd rather read a blog, and there's so much more information there if something about the content or blogger strikes me as interesting.
