ABERRATION BLOG HOP

This post is for the Aberration Blog Hop to celebrate the release of Lisa Regan's second novel, Aberration.
We were to choose 5 character's in literature, movies, or television which best describes aberration.

Here is the definition of ABERRATION:

ab·er·ra·tion
1 : the fact or an instance of deviating or being aberrant especially from a moral standard or normal state
2 : unsoundness or disorder of the mind
3 : an aberrant individual
— ab·er·ra·tion·al  adjective
From the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary

My first choice is Norman Bates portrayed by Anthony Perkins in Psycho. By today's standards he probably isn't creepy enough. Though, Norman definitely was unsound and had a disorder of the mind.

Secondly there is Glenn Close in the movie Fatal Attraction. These first two character are the worst kind of an aberration, because you're fooled into thinking a person is totally normal until their dark side comes out.
Glenn Close portrays Alexander Forrest, a publishing editor who has an affair with a married man, Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) while his wife is away for the weekend. He thinks it's a just a fling, but little does he know, Alex is a total loon. Aberration is the perfect word for Alex's and Norman's characters.

Next is VOLDMORT!
ENOUGH SAID

And what about Heath Ledger's Oscar winning performance in the movie BATMAN as the JOKER!
This character fully describes an aberration.

Who could ever forget Sir Anthony Hopkins
as HANNIBAL LECTOR in the Silence of the Lambs.
A lethal man-eater.

Aberration describes countless character's in movies, television and literature, all of whom we take eerie pleasure to watch and read about.

My debut novel, Wickedly They Come will be released sometime this fall, I hope. I have a couple of persons that could be considered an aberration, though, I chose one of the main characters, Asa Trebane, supreme leader of The Black Order of the Cult.  A powerful and wicked sorcerer, Asa is a self-made billionaire, suave and debonair who pays homage to, of course, Satan.

I thank Lisa Regan who organized this blog hop and wish her success with today's release of her second novel, ABERRATION. Please visit Lisa Regan's blog to learn more.

  4. That was a good list. I am not a fan of scary movies, but I knew all of the characters. Harry Potter and Batman are not scary so I saw those movies. I saw Silence of the Lambs to, but my eyes were covered by my hand the whole time.

  7. I think Hannibal should win the award (so many of us chose him!), and the Joker is a close runner up - I loved his pure evil character. :) Writer’s Mark

    1. What makes Hannibal so creepy, evil is his character to look and act totally sane. That's what makes him a true aberration.

  8. Oh, I totally didn't think about Fatal Attraction or Norman Bates. Those were some good choices! I did think of Heath Ledger's Joker, but since I've never seen the whole movie I didn't think it would be fair to choose it. I'm glad you did!
