#IWSG

It's time for another month of Insecure Writer's Support Group. Thanks to Alex J. Cavanugh for tackling this amazing project. And a shout-out to his helpers.

This month Alex's wonderful co-hosts are

Chemist KenSuzanne Sapseed, and Shannon Lawrence!

If you're an aspiring writer I highly recommend joining this group. Add your name to the list HERE.

This August I will be celebrating 2 years since my first book was published with a small press. Since then I've had 3 books published and I still feel new to the publishing world.
I new zilch about publishing and have learned loads, and still learn something new everyday. I can't stress enough to new writer's to get involved with amazing groups such as the IWSG.
This month I'm concentrating on perseverance and tenacity. Especially for struggling writer's, which I still consider myself as one of those struggling writers.
With all the new technology it's a great era for writer's. You don't have to grab that prodigious agent to get your stories out to the world. But I suggest you find an excellent editor and critique partners to lead you on the right path.

With that said and written I hope everyone has a productive month!

  2. Five books in two years? WOW! That's fantastic! I'm hoping to publish more quickly, but I'm not sure I can reach that level. I agree with you - this is a great era to be a writer!

  3. That's great that you've had so many books published in a short amount of time! Sometimes I wonder how authors bust out books so fast when it's taking me forever just to get one done.

  4. Hi, Cathrina,

Great advice about editors and CP'S... they will totally fine tune your work. And you are so right about keep at it. Never give up. Just like any worthwhile goal, one must put in the time and effort....

  5. Hi, Cathrina...I've decided to continue with self-publishing. I've done it twice now through Authorhouse, and it's working for me. I'm forced out to promote my books (2), and I'm getting good feedback. Never thought to do this to get rich, but I'm always thrilled when I even get a small payment in the bank account. So much fun.

  7. I agree with Joylene, you are inspiring! And I couldn't agree more, groups like these are lifesavers. I know I wouldn't have made it nearly as far as I have without the support of so many wonderful bloggers.

  10. Congratulations on the 3 books! That's a fine achievement.

The way I see it, if you're not learning, you're not living. Don't ever stop learning!

  12. You know, I wasn't new to writing, but I was definitely new to indie publishing. Who knew that writing the book was the easy part?!?! I wonder if that newby feeling ever goes away.

  13. I have NO idea what I'm doing. I'm still just winging it, even with three books published. I keep learning things, which is awesome, but then I think "well shit, I wish I knew this two years ago." But hey, learning is learning. And I think this is an ever changing environment so there will ALWAYS be things to learn. Good luck to you!
