Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
Our Twitter is @TheIWSG and hashtag #IWSG.
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say. Remember, the question is optional!!
ALEX'S awesome co-hosts are J Lenni Dorner, Victoria Marie Lees, and Sandra Cox!
February 4 question - Many writers have written about the experience of rereading their work years later. Have you reread any of your early works? What was that experience like for you?
For years I couldn't bring myself to reread my books. Once in a blue moon I'd read a paragraph, and wince. Since my writing career began, I never had any creative writing or grammar courses. I honed my craft from reading, reading, and reading. Then writing, writing, and rewriting, which led to endless editing. I have learned so so much, and I'm still learning so so much!
Now, around 15 years later (give or take a few years) I Have re-edited a few of my earlier works, and uploaded the new version on Amazon. Hoping everyone will enjoy their reading experience and the adventures within.
Have you reread or rewritten any of your books?
The pain of editing---! I've only been writing for a few years(You've been writing for 15 and I'm 15:) but I know editing is hard. I'm getting self published in a couple months and hopefully my readers forgive me for all the grammatical errors!
ReplyDeleteYES. I have. And what an adventure -- right? Coming back with all that experience and reshining something you once loved so much?
ReplyDeleteI've only gone back once and that was enough!
ReplyDeleteMy first series has gone through a couple rounds of additional edits but not for a while. That might be a project to tackle soon now that I have more time.
ReplyDeleteThe editing doesn't end until the author decides it does. There's always something, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteHappy IWSG day! I'm co-hosting this month.
