Prah, Constantine, Baryeh Book Reviews #timetravel #romance

I feel as if Summer is slipping through my fingers. We had a wonderful family vacation on Chautauqua Lake. I see that school is starting for some children while here in Buffalo, NY we have three weeks of vacation left.
This month our team picked
THE LIBRARIAN
by Christy Sloat.

He’s from 1892 England, she’s in a small library in 2017. And that's just the start of their troubles.

Emme never meant to stay in Maine. She'd come only to find a librarian for her Gram's library, a custodian for the collection of mysterious books she'd promised to protect. On a dark, wintery night, alone in the library, she takes her first glance into one of the antique novels and finds herself transported to 1892 England staring into the eyes of handsome and dashing hero Jack Ridgewell. As each chapter passes she learns you can truly fall in love with a character in a book, that book boyfriends are real and Emme must choose between the real world, and his.

When the last page is read he's gone and Emme feels the cold loneliness of lost love. Will she find Jack again, or will their love be forever lost? The answer lies within the pages…

Cathrina's Review:

I absolutely love the cover of THE LIBRARIAN.

I don't believe I've had the pleasure of reading too many time travel novels. And this book is somewhat unique as to how and why Emme goes back in time. And later learning of the threat of never coming back home has Emme worried until she discovers more of how time travel works.

I especially liked the sequences when Emme goes back to 1892 and meets Jack. He's quite charming and debonair, and a girl from 2017 doesn't get the gist of his ways. However, she immediately falls for him. But she soon disappears and is home again. It's a case of trail and error, with her body being in one place while she's discovering the past. The more time she spends with Jack, the harder it is to leave him. Can she, and will she take a chance and leave her life in 2017 behind for love?

It's a fast, imaginative, easy read. And I was torn between 1892 and present time, and I wonder what I would've chosen if I had the chance...

I guess you'll have to read THE LIBRARIAN to find out what Emme decided upon.

Now hop over to Nana Prah and Empi Baryeh's blog and read their reviews.

  2. Cathrina, I think you and I enjoyed this book a little more than Nana. I thought they fell in love a little too quickly and wished for more page time but on the other hand, I thought the end kind of made up for this.

  4. Great review! Yeah, the kids went back to school here earlier this week. They were out in early May, though. It's probably good that it's so different from one place to another. May and August have to be a better time to take a vacation than June and July because half the kids are back in school!
