I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Now it's quickly on to Christmas. The transition between these two holidays is rather frazzling for me.
For our family the real meaning of Christmas arrives on that day, and then the blessed season of Christmas begins.
Do you have any special Holiday customs?
We put ours up shortly after Thanksgiving and take it down around New Year's Day. Five weeks of Christmas is a good length for us.
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought about a tree yet. Kind of slow, but getting there. Happy Holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn!
DeleteI usually wait until later in December to put up the tree. I like having it up around the week before Christmas or so. Love seeing all the decorations and lights people have outside when I'm walking around the neighborhood now though. Makes me in the Christmas spirit. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too. :)
DeleteWe get our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving from a local nursery and fall in love with it so much we keep it until almost February.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!
DeleteI'm surprised to see Christmas trees go up the day after Thanksgiving, too. My family were always too roly-poly from over-eating to do much then. I enjoyed decorating it slightly differently every year. I hope you'll share a pic of your tree when you have it up. :)
ReplyDeleteI will Lexa and I hope you do the same! :)
DeleteI think for many of us it's connected to what we learned as children. We had a real tree a couple of Christmases, so we often were mid-December before we put a tree up. But I usually put my tree up as close after Thanksgiving weekend as possible. Usually the week or the next weekend after Thanksgiving. We went looking for wreaths Saturday (the THIRD!) and they were sold out of all their Christmas stuff. Two places actually said, "It's too late in the season." December third is NOT late in the season!!!
ReplyDeleteToo Late!!!! Huh? We do get a real tree...
DeleteI'm a late to no tree person these days. We're usually on the go over the holidays, so it seems nuts to put up a tree, then drive off. I do miss the smell of a fresh tree, so I put up a lot of boughs and decorate them.
ReplyDeleteI like the pine smells too!
Deletewe're usually late with our tree too, Cathrina. We have a little artificial one but it's cute. Hope you have a great Christmas season.
