#IWSG THE INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP

Join Alex J. Cavanaugh and a multitude of writer's in this monthly hop to help support one another!

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

November 2 Question: What is your favorite aspect of being a writer?

First of all, my favorite aspect of being a writer is the freedom to work anywhere my heart desires. Then to be able to write at any time when life lets me. I do enjoy crafting a good story. The cherry on top of all my hard work is when a complete stranger writes to tell me how much they liked my book. Or reading a surprise review that's outstanding!

What is your favorite aspect of being a writer?

  1. Thanks for visiting my site, Cathrina! Yes, I also like that I can write anywhere. Since I work from home, I pretty much wear a sweatshirt and yoga pants every day and write sitting on my bed (I have an office, but rarely use it).

  2. Surprise reviews are the best! I do like that I can write anywhere, but I end up working almost exclusively at home. I really should get out more! Lately I seem to be doing about one writer's event a week, so I have to get out for those, but I always rush back home to the safety of my laptop!

  3. You can't beat the buzz of someone telling you they enjoyed something you wrote :)

  5. It's so nice to have someone tell you that they enjoy something you've read. I love feeling like I've reached out into a void and connected with someone, especially someone I've never met or someone I'd never considered connecting with my work.

    Happy Wednesday!

  6. Yes! You can write anywhere and anyone can learn to be a better writer through practice :)

  7. Yeah, sometimes when I'm at my day job, I wish I could go anywhere else and work on writing. Being able to work where you want is a nice perk. I can only imagine how good it feels for a reader to tell you how much they liked your story.

  8. I received an awesome review this week, and you're right, it made me very gleeful. LOL. That's the first word that came to mind.

  10. It is darned amazing, isn't it. All you need is scrap of paper or the back of your hand and a pen. Viola! You're able to write something.

    1. Even out to dinner with family and/or friends. The ideas are always percolating.

  12. I love connecting with people via a book. I recently had a student from Cornell and a lady from Canada email me that they enjoyed my novel, and now suddenly a simple book has connected us. Always a good thing:)

  13. All of it. I agree, it is nice being able to just pack up laptop, and go to work anywhere I please :-)

  14. The flexibility is pretty epic. Granted, I have a hard time working anywhere but at home because of the number of distractions. I'm too social a creature.

  15. Those are great reasons! I'm just starting to experience the joy of having readers reach and tell me how much they liked Catalyst. It's really fun! :)

  16. Great reasons! Personally, writing is like interactive reading (if that makes sense). My imagination runs away with itself and I get to experience the story AS it pours onto the page. But, unlike a book, I can move the pieces where I might want them to be. It's, quite frankly, an experience like no other.

  17. Writing is for the reader too! I think you're the first person to point that out as an answer to this month's questions...that I've read. :)

  18. "...reading a surprise review that's outstanding!" Now that must be an awesome feeling! You are connected to a complete stranger via your words.
    Happy IWSG!
