As you can see from above today my 3rd novel has been released, and what do you think my insecurity might be this month?

I know we shouldn't worry about reviews, but I'd say a writer is fibbing if they said they don't give a fig about what people write about their stories. As writer's, we tend to grow some pretty thick armor, and every once in a while we get dents.

What are your insecurities this month?

  1. Did you have a cover reveal earlier? I think I've seen this one around. I didn't realize it was you. WOOT! Congratulations. It looks and sounds amazing.

  3. Congratulations on your release day! The HTML you sent worked perfectly and it's up on my blog now. And I agree -- the thought of bad reviews makes me break out in a cold sweat. It won't be much longer before my book is out there, so I'm going to have to learn to just roll with it. Easier said than done, I know.

And yes, we do get dents sometimes, and reviews are tough to read. But, I know you've written a great book. It's what you do. Just remember that. :)

  15. I've seen your book around, Cathrina, and it sounds like a must-read! I will pass word around and wish you the best of luck. I know how hard it is to not think about the reviews for our books. Every time I receive an email about another review for my children's book, I get really nervous! Who wouldn't?

  17. congrats on the release (I just got my copy!) It will be a bit before I get to it, but I will and then I will review....if only to extend your insecurities out just a little longer. (Kidding.) Sharing those feelings as I'll be releasing my first poetry collection in a few weeks. Yikes.

  19. That is a very good reason to feel insecure, but in only the best of ways! Congrats--beautiful cover and the story sounds intriguing.

  20. typed up a nice response and it vanished... The gist of it being, even negative reviews can be a learning tool. Soak up the underling message in the review, use it, then discard the crappy leftover feeling. And keep in mind, some negative reviewers are just cranky and unhappy, others can be looked at as constructive. Tough to do, but we have to grow thick skin. :)
