@TheIWSG #IWSG #WritersCommunity #Writing #WritersSupportGroup

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

Our Twitter is @TheIWSG and hashtag #IWSG.

What's the one thing about your writing career you regret the most? Were you able to overcome it?

My biggest regret was putting my writing on the back burner.

At a young age I liked scripting plays and performing them with friends. As a teen, I wrote short stories and even submitted a few to magazines. Then came marriage and 5 children. My life was full.

Not until my children were teenagers did I put my pencil to paper and wrote my first book, Wickedly They Come, a christen fantasy.

I can say I did overcome that obstacle. I guess age doesn't matter when it comes to writing.

 Polish those manuscripts and
get those pitches ready to throw at the pros.

The next #IWSGPit will be in January 26, 2022,
8:00 am - 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

  1. The important thing is that you did focus on your writing when you finally had time for it. Sometimes life does get busy, and there's not much time to write.

  2. You did circle back to it, like I did, and it's worked out!

  3. I wrote as a teen and a little into my 20's and then didn't pick it up again until my late 30's. But it still worked out.

    1. I don't know how young women with growing children are able to publish books. I didn't have time to breathe let alone concentrate on writing. I guess if you're driven, nothing can stop you.

  4. Happy New Year, Cathrina! If age was a problem, then I would be WAY TOO OLD! LOL I started writing in my late, late 40's and now I am FINALLY getting published at 60! Yuck! Such a horrible thing to admit. LOL So, with writing, you truly are never too old. I recently read an article about a man in his 80's beginning his writing career and he is already a very successful author. When it's the right time, it's the right time...

  5. I wrote on and off since I learned to write but didn't hit it until my late 30's with any extra gusto. And now, I've been slacking again thanks to life. You're right—there are no age limits.

    1. Life has a way of getting a writer off the beaten path. But that's okay, that's life.

  6. I didn't write as much when my kids were young - they were so busy! But then, I realized I needed to so I started keeping short bits of stories and poems going and that helped keep the writing spark alive.
There are definitely no age limits.

  7. As far as I'm concerned, age enhances writing. You're doing just fine.

  8. Yes, I do find it's difficult to complete writing when there are kid worries to deal with!

  9. Age definitely doesn't diminish writing! Life gets in the way, but we persist.

  10. Life does tend to sweep us up, but it's wonderful you came back to writing. Age doesn't matter at all!

  11. Good on you for picking up the pencil again.

  12. One of the reasons I started so late with writing is because I didn't really like writing. Avoided it like the plague. But my work required me to write, so I learned to like it. I wish I'd enjoyed writing a lot earlier.

And you're right, age doesn't matter when it comes to writing.

    Happy 2022!

  13. Happy New Year, Cathrina!

Age doesn't matter at all. There are many writers under the age of 25, 30, 35, or 40 who feel like they're running out of time. Remember that plenty of bestselling authors didn’t publish their first book until they were 50 years old or even older.
