June 6 question - What's harder for you to come up with, book titles or character names?

Book Titles!!!

Prior to publication, I change the title of my manuscipts all the time. Other author's book titles are extremely catchy, and I can't seem to find that catchy hook, at least I don't think I do.

I enjoy coming up with character names. That is loads of fun for me.

I just finished editing my new manuscript for my agent and sent it back to her. And, typical for me, I sent her the wrong copy...duh!! But, I did finally send her the right copy. **fingerscrossed** that she likes it.

Besides editing, I haven't had any time to add any words to my WIP.

Do you have an insecurity this month? Do you have problems coming up with a title for your stories or characters?

  1. Reassuring to hear I'm not the only one who finds other peoples titles way more exciting than my own!Sending good vibes for your agent to love the story.

  3. I'm glad you caught that you sent the wrong one. I'm sure that happens a lot, especially as we write more drafts of the same story.

  5. I find it so intriguing that you can change your title many times during the creation of a manuscript. For the first time ever, the MG script I'm working on suddenly wanted a different title than the one I'd created. Actually, the new title told me that the old title should move to book 3. It was a strange metamorphosis.

  6. LOL! That's a testament to how exhausted the brain is after an intense round of edits, eh? ;) I hope you're kicking back and celebrating with a wedge of your favorite cheese.

  10. I agree. Book titles are crucial. It's what some reads first, even before your first line:)

  14. Titles are sometimes harder to write than the story. I hope you and your editor had a good laugh about the mix-up.
