#IWSG

Join Alex J. Cavanaugh and a multitude of writer's in this monthly hop to help support one another!

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

The co-hosts for November are:

It's been a busy month with my new release, and so far it's getting decent reviews. But it's only the beginning, next month I'll probably be singing the blues! Before the release I was antsy because people will again be reading and judging me.
My writing and stories are okay, but I'd like to climb over that okay barrier into the very good. I try to be proud of what I've accomplished thus far, although, those feelings of insecurity like to creep in. Especially when I'm working on a new manuscript and wondering where it's taking me.
As writer's I believe we all strive to hone our craft to create a worthy tale. And if I stay on this path of publishing books, I hope my stories will entertain readers for years to come.

Do you have insecurities this month?

  1. I am laughing too hard at the insecurity quote in your post to be particularly profound in my comment. Can I say 'Me, too!' and 'Go get 'em!'?

  2. Great quote! My inner critic tends to eat all my chocolate and leave the wrappers all over my writing room.

  3. Yes, poke it in the eye. Then gag it, lock it away in a storage closet and use ear plugs.

  4. Yes. They're too numerous to list. :\

  6. I have tons of insecurities. I just decided not to write about them this month. Last month was too positive for me to focus on them. Congrats on your new release. Hugs. Eva

  7. I would love to hit good or great someday, but I think we just keep writing and working our craft and improving. I keep reminding myself that one of my family's favorite authors improved noticeably over a ten book series and beyond (now), so if that writer can, I can, too.

And, I know your books will entertain readers for years to come!

  9. We all worry, fret and stew about our work Cathrina! We all want to be very accomplished. The only way we'll get there is to keep writing. Meantime, celebrate what you've done. D

  10. I have the same doubts - I think I'm a good writer, but I want to be a brilliant writer! Yes, we just need to poke that insecurity in the eye :)

  12. I like that quote. You got to face your fears, realize what's going on, then tell them to get lost. And keep on improving.

  13. I have insecurities every month LOL! I LOVE the sugar spoon in the eye quote! So right and if you don't do it, who will?

  14. I'm a bundle of insecurity!
I wouldn't know where to start, and you definitely DO NOT want to be bored with the gory details. So I'll say no more.
Insecurity is welcome to a cup of coffee, but instead of poking it in the eye, I say we deliver a nasty, bitter cup, without sugar... or milk for that matter... LOL

Good luck with the new release!
You HAVE accomplished so much... it's something to be proud of! For sure!

  15. We get better with each and every manuscript so you're doing exactly what you need to do to be where you want to be!

I've been given an opportunity to do a rewrite on my first novel, published in 2010 - and oh my GOODNESS has my writing improved in the last 5 years!!
