May 7 question - Some common fears writers share are rejection, failure, success, and lack of talent or ability. What are your greatest fears as a writer? How do you manage them?
When my writing journey began I feared ALL the above. Years later, some of those fears have lessened, but still brewing under my skin.
Now, I fear age. I know age shouldn't be a factor for a writer, but in this new world of marketing - Instagram and TikTok, making videos, etc...I can't compete with any of that. I try, but I'm a social introvert.
What writer fears do you have?
I struggle with that, too, and age-ING. I can't sit for hours in my desk chair without something hurting anymore. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hear ya!!! LOL
DeleteWoman, I hear you! Age brutal, and truthfully, I don't even dare use most gifs anymore if I don't know the context. There's so much out there to know that I think we really have to just pick our corner of the world and become an expert. Beyond that, whatever. Life is too short to stress over thinks like TikTok.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Crystal. Thank you.
DeleteI fear age too but for a different reason. I fear it's too late, I won't have time to build a writing career (especially since I'll need to work full time till age 65), my health will fail before I achieve any of my goals. That's really just my insecurity talking, trying to give me an excuse to quit.
ReplyDeleteDon't quit! If you love it. Don't quit.
DeleteYes, as I get older, the allure of social media and such is dying off. I would rather get out and experience the world.
ReplyDeleteTrue! I'd like to experience the world too!!
DeleteI used to do more online but I'll admit my attention has drifted.
ReplyDeleteSocial Media is very distracting.
DeleteOh, yes, no way do I want to spend time making videos on social media (nor do I have the expertise)! Great answer.
ReplyDeleteMe either.
DeleteI'm with you. Age is a huge issue for me now. I don't want to but ocassionally the negative thought sneaks in: I'm disappointed I haven't achieved more success after ALL these years. oh hum...
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed in myself as well.
DeleteI can't keep up with all the social media either. And that's not how I want to spend all my time.
